slave narrative

                                                                 SLAVE NARRATIVE

Florida Narrative, Volume III
Josephine Anderson

 SUMMERY SECTION

In Josephine Anderson's letter from Florida was trying tell us about his own personal experience when he was young as a slavery. His father died when he was born so he had to live with his mother and his step-father and also he has 2 half-brother and sister.  He tempted to do light stuffs because his grandmother was old. Unfourtunly, His step-father died from heart disease when he worked for turpantie. Doreaa was his mother, she wore barefoot in the the winter. This was what he was trying to tell us what happened to him and his family members.

ANALYSIS/REFLECTION SECTION

This letter got me so emotional. His father died when he was born, then his step-father died form working, his grandmother was old and couldn't help much, his mother got treated very poorly. He had such a difficult time. It was not easy to be slave, they always have to encounter difficulties or obstacles in their lives.

Tecumseh Speech

                                                    Tecumseh Speech

The two themes to Tecumseh's speech are anger and death. Tecumseh writes  this letter to the Osages to let them know how angry he is about those white men. It said," nothing will satisfy them but the whole of our hunting grounds". Those white men wanted their lands which makes Tecumseh's so angry. Another theme to this speech is death. In the very beginning of paragraph 6, it says,"The white men want more than our hunting grounds, they wish to kill our warriors, they would even kill our old men, women and a little ones." It talks about those white men never be satisfy and also, they even wanted to kill their people since they help them to be strong. Tecumseh is really angry about  this and especially they wanted to kill their people.

The theme of "The Way I Am" by Eminem has some similarities to Tecumseh's speech because their themes are anger. In Tecumseh's speech, he's so angry about how those white men do to his people. Also, in Eminem's song talks about how he's so mad the way people treat him, "But I'm glad cause they feed me the fuel that i need for the fire to burn and it's burning and I have to return." Just like in Tecumseh's speech, he hates those men. His people have help them to be strong, but all they got in return from those white men were their un-satisfactions, "they would even kill our old men, women and a little ones" , "we must be united." Here are some similarities between Eminem's song and Tecumseh's speech because they're both angry.

Letter from West

                                                                                                                                    November 9, 2014

         Dear; Family

Hello, I'm wondering how you guys are doing? Are you all fine back in East ? As I'm writing this letter to you from the West American, I just want to tell you that I'm was doing fine. However, here I tempted to encounter so many obstacles. As we know that East is that a freedom state. I go to the westward just because I want to see a new freedom sate and a better life. I miss you all so much.
Along my way I seen most of the people went overland by horse or ox drawn wagons via Santa Fe or Oregon Trails. This was the cheapest option, but it was probably the most difficult, hazardous, and the longest. It could take 10 miles a day. I asked them how many miles they went away from home? They said," well, we went away from home from 200 miles". There was a guy name Jendina Smith. He was the greatest hunter. He did not smoke, drink, or anything, but one thing that always in his hands was gun. Also, I seen a woman gave a birth to a beautiful child and that was Mr.Smith and Mrs.Smith's child. I had a really great time with them, yet once we got to crossed the mountain by using the short cut way. They followed a route blazed by fur traders, which took them west along the Platte River through the Rocking Mountains via the easy South Pass in Wyoming and then northwest to the Columbia River.
The weather was pretty horrified. We seen a storm that facing us and all the supplies and everything fell off from the charts. Now we have no more supplies left. We were freezing. People have tempted to eat their own dead people since there were no supplies left. I felt so horrible because I couldn't help them. What I should have done for them?Is was not easy.
Even though I've encountered many obstacles I will never give up. I want freedom!  Hopefully, I'll visit home soon. Do not worry, I will be fine. I will live happily in here with my own family and We'll also visit you one day.
                                                                                                                   Sincerely
                                                                                                           Uksavatey Nuth (your daughter)

    Great Journey Through Lowell

     Observation journals entries

     October  07,  2014

I left home at 7:10 am to go to school. It was so cold in the morning which was 30 degree. My parents drove me to school and we went down to a Willard st. Then, we dropped my mom off at Market Basket. My mom said,"Bye, don't be late for school." So at 7:15am, my dada went down to Bridge st. Along the way we saw a friend of mine (Cristina) was walking to school in the cold 27 degree, after that my dad stopped and asked her if she'd likes to go with us, so then she said ok. We saw the stop light near Cvs. Then we crossed the bridge, then we went down to French st and we turned left to Lowell high school at 7:50.

    October 09, 2014

After school at 2:30 pm, I left the class, then went to the school library with my friends. First, we met up at room 125. We went from the third floor to the second floor, then we walked thru the tunnel. People were talking to loud. I saw a girl from my middle school, she's got prettier. My friends and I were kept walking so we got there around 2:40 pm. Unfortunately, the school library closed because they were having a quick meeting with their staffs. So we walked out.

    October 11, 2014

I woke up at 9:43 am and I was really cold in the morning 23 degree. I went outside and took my walk for a walk. So first, I put on my gray favorite sweater and then I told my grandma that I'm going to talk our dog a walk. I made myself a hot cup of coffee. I felt really dog. I took him walk around the house. At 10 o'clock we've finished and came in our house. My dog looked pretty happy because I took him outside. Well, I usually take him out when there's no school and in in the weekend.

    •  It is very hard to keep a detailed journal of everything you saw and did for long period of time.
    • I would not enjoy doing this.
    •   It's so boring that you have to write every single thing you saw or passed by.

    The War of 1812

                                                                     THE WAR OF 1812

The War of 1812 was fought because England was fighting with our vessels at sea and England was arming the Indian Tribes in the West and in Florida and encouraging them to attack settlements that happened in 1812.The outcome of the war was that the trade restrictions were lifted because the British war with France ended with the Treaty and the British lifted their Impressment laws and the Chesapeake law. The 13 Colonies were able to live under the Constitution without the interference of the British.

    The background
The Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem of the United States and the lyrics originally come from Defence of Fort McHenry. a poem written in 1814 by the 35-year-old lawyer and amateur poet Francis Scott Key after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry by British ships of the  Royal Navy in the Chesapeake Bay during the the War of 1812.

    Re-Write
O say can you see by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
    Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave,
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner, O! long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country, should leave us no more?
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave,
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation.
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the Heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Five constitutional issues rasied in Boston marathon case

                                                   FIVE CONSTITUTIONAL
                                                         ISSUES RASIED IN

Police officer take Dzhokhar into custody

Miranda warnings: ( The first Constitutional)
    After Dzhokhar Tsarnaev

    Death penalty: (The second Constitutional)

The second constitutional issue they talked about was death penalty. They tried to trial Dzhokhar Tsarnaev for death penalty, but Massachusetts doesn't allow death penalty because he was only
